My dad and I slept in for a while, to catch up on the rest we lost on the flight, then got ready to go explore the town. We got some breakfast along the main street, Market Street, then went walking to have a look at my
dorm. We couldn't go inside yet, but enjoyed seeing the buildings and surroundings.

We then went to the St. Andrews Museum, which had a small exhibition about the history of the city. After walking to South Street, I began to feel woozy from jet lag, and had to go back to the apartment to nap for a while. During that time, my dad received the delivery of my beautiful new bike and assembled it to surprise me. Unfortunately, I was only half-asleep, so it wasn't much of a surprise, but I was still very excited!

After we finished resting, we continued along South Street until we got to the
Cathedral. We then walked along The Scores, a pretty road by the sea, until we got to the alleyway between
St. Salvador's Quad and the Library. I did a self-tour of the library ground level, and looked around the grand grounds of St. Salvador's.

Next, we went grocery shopping at Tesco. We brought our food back to the room, and made dinner. We decided after dinner to go see
Anna Karenina at the cinema, which was really amazing- the way in which they filmed it was breathtaking and I loved the way they incorporated the theater into the scenery. After the movie, we went to the apartment to sleep.

What a wonderful, exciting adventure! I wish you all the best in your studies and involvement in a totally new culture! I can't help thinking how proud your grandparents would be, not to mention your great grandparents, that you have never met! Your great-grandaddy would be so amazed to know one of his great grandchildren is going to school in Scotland!
ReplyDeleteYou are already settling in if you are shopping at Tesco! We love that store. And the new bike is beautiful, perfect for getting around town.
